Initiatives

Boston Beyond works with public, private and nonprofit partners to strengthen and expand learning opportunities for youth in Boston’s communities. We seek to ensure that youth experience the entire day and the entire year as a series of coordinated education and enrichment opportunities, from kindergarten through high school graduation and beyond.

With more than 600 organizations and 1,400 program opportunities, BOSTONavigator is Boston’s most comprehensive on-line directory of out-of-school time programs. Search for programs by age, zip code, or type of activity.

Partners for Student Success

Partners for Student Success is a multi-year effort designed to lower the barriers to learning among struggling students. In 10 high-need schools we are creating a connection between the lives children lead in and out of school.

Teen Initiative

The Teen Initiative supports neighborhood based networks of youth development organizations in Dorchester, East Boston, Jamaica Plain, Lower Roxbury, and across the city.

Boston Youth Sports Initiative

Boston Youth Sports Initiative (BYSI) works with Boston's urban youth sports community to encourage, strengthen and build the sports network, while promoting sports as a positive youth development and physical fitness approach.

Boston Youth Environmental Network

The Boston Youth Environmental Network (BYEN) is a group of public and private sector organizations and professionals in the environmental education, park stewardship, youth development and job training fields that aim to increase green youth employment and environmental educational opportunities both in school settings and in Out of School Time.

School-Age & Youth Development (SAYD) Credential

School-Age & Youth Development (SAYD) credential was an eighteen month pilot program to test a training and credentialing system for after-school and youth workers aspiring to greater leadership in the OST sector. Pilot participants have the opportunity to earn nine cost-free college credits and take forty-five hours of free community-based training.
