Afterschool Programs as an Oasis of Hope for Black Parents in Four Cities
This study by The Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), commissioned by the C.S. Mott Foundation, examined factors influencing parents’ decisions about after-school programming for their children and how they judge quality and availability. This study focused on Black low-income and working class parents. The four major findings related to barriers to access, information gaps, quality of programs and the opportunity to share opinions.
