Through the Partners for Student Success initiative, Boston joined four other cities (Chicago, New York City, Providence, Washington, DC) ,funded by the Wallace Foundation, to develop elements of a citywide out-of-school time (OST) system.  The initiative provided an opportunity to to test a model of coordination between schools and their OST partners.

Key Elements of the PSS initiative:

  • Lead community partners in high-need schools
  • School-level coordination to align school day and after-school activities
  • Data systems to collect and analyze data
  • OST program quality assessment tools to drive continuous quality improvement
  • Program coaching aimed at using data to improve program quality and develop staff skills
  • Capacity building grants
