Teen Initiative
The Teen Initiative is a collaboration of youth development organizations, the Boston Public Schools, and other city agencies dedicated to improving skill development opportunities for teenagers after school and in their neighborhoods.
The Teen Initiative organizes Boston’s leading youth development organizations into referral networks dedicated to serving youth collaboratively, over the long term, and in partnership with Boston Public Schools. These networks are more developmentally responsive, programmatically diverse, and scalable than any single organization or program. Networks bring together individual organizations through deep social, technological, and strategic ties that allow caring adults to serve youth across multiple organizations and help them Achieve, Connect, and Thrive.
In its fourth year, the Teen Initiative is working with established and emerging networks to support struggling youth throughout the city, particularly in schools in Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, Roxbury, and East Boston.
Current grantee networks include:
- Boston Youth Service Network
- East Boston Task Force
- Get Off The Corner Hanging Around(GOTCHA); and,
- Jamaica Plain Unidos
