After School Group Leader, Achieve! After School program

Position Description: 

After School Group Leader - Grades 3-4
The Achieve! After School program serves approximately 60 children at the Oliver W. Holmes School in the Codman Square neighborhood of Dorchester. This high quality after school program provides a combination of academics and enrichment activities that support and engage the whole child.

Group Leader Responsibilities:
• Responsible for a group of 13 students in grades 3-4
• Leads students in daily activities including homework help, academic enrichment, and club activities
• Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for monthly themed units
• Communicates regularly with school-day staff and families about student progress
• Other tasks as required

Skills Required:
• High school graduate
• Minimum of at least one year of youth work experience, preferably with upper elementary school aged children, more experience preferred
• Knowledge of lesson planning and group management skills
• Ability to work with staff and external collaborators to develop a holistic program that includes arts, sports, technology, life skills, and culturally appropriate activities
• Experience working in multicultural setting
• Special skills (such as art, dance, double-dutch, etc) preferred but not required

Hours and Compensation:
• 2:00-6:00 pm, Monday-Friday beginning immediately through mid-June (program follows the Boston Public Schools academic calendar)
• Applicants must be able to commit to the entire school year
• $11-13 per hour based on experience
