Turnaround Schools

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education named 12 turnaround schools in Boston.  Through a competitive process, 10 of these schools were awarded funded from the state to accelerate progress over a three year timeframe.  Among the substantial changes taking place at these schools will be an increase of 30 minutes in daily instructional time for students as well as an increase in planning and professional development time for teachers and other staff members.  Boston After School & Beyond believes that turning around schools requires a strong dose of programs, activities, and experiences that reinforce academic concepts, build background knowledge, and develop students' skill sets and resiliency.  Visit BPS for more...
