The Collaborative for Building After School Systems (CBASS) hosted a chat on "Reimagining the School Day: More Time for Learning," a report from The Wallace Foundation and Education Sector.
The House Ways and Means Committee (HWM) released their FY2012 budget recommendations today. The After School and Out of School Time (ASOST) Quality Grant (Line Item 7061-9611) was funded at $1.5 million, representing a $500,000 cut from the FY2011 Conference Committee’s budget recommendation of $2 million. Although the line-item was reduced, the inclusion of the ASOST grant in the HWM budget despite the difficult fiscal climate indicates that afterschool and out-of-school time programming remains a priority for the legislature.
