Criminal Offender Record (CORI) Checks

The Criminal History Systems Board is the state agency responsible for maintaining the Commonwealth's criminal justice information system, maintaining firearms licensing and transaction records, disseminating Massachusetts criminal offender record information, and giving assistance to those individuals or families that may be victims of crime.

Relevant CORI Regulations: The Board adopts general grants when a number of applicants fit squarely into a specific category that is appropriate to receive CORI. The effect of a general grant is that the Board does not have to meet and review individual applications that fall into a general grant category; instead, they may be reviewed and approved by Board counsel upon receipt.

Youth Athletic Programs Agencies providing youth athletic programs may receive CORI pertaining to conviction and pending criminal case data for the purpose of screening current or otherwise qualified prospective employees who have the potential for unmonitored access to children.
