Coalition for a Healthy and Active America
The public health risks associated with childhood obesity as youth move into adulthood demands a commitment to changing the lifestyles of our young people. Childhood obesity now stands as a generational issue, according to pediatric health experts, with a generation growing up today in danger of having a shorter life span than their parents.
It is the responsibility of the adults in our children's lives to take action and encourage solutions to childhood obesity that are both responsible and realistic, such as encouraging schools to rededicate time for physical fitness, giving parents the freedom and schools local control to help their children make nutritional choices, and protecting model relationships between our communities and schools that benefit our families by supporting healthy and active lifestyles.
