CDC: Tobacco-Free Sports Initiatives
As a way to combat tobacco use and to promote physical activity, the tobacco-free sports movement aims to increase youth engagement in sports while also providing education about the consequences of tobacco use and the importance of physical activity and good nutrition. Many organizations and agencies have joined with CDC in promoting this movement. These organizations and agencies include: the World Health Organization (WHO), National Cancer Institute, National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information, National SAFE KIDS Campaign, International Olympic Committee, Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), and more. This CDC website includes fact-sheets and manuals for coaches as well as a manual for organizations to create healthy programs for youth.
