The Carnegie Corporation funds a wide variety of programs. One such focus area is programs that help to strengthen the nonproft and philanthropic sector. Grants are awarded to organizations that: strenghten nonprofit organizations' ability to address complex social problems and issues through capacity-building strategies; strengthen and deepen the field of nonprofit management; disseminate tools, models, strategies, research study results, and other information that will help practitioners and scholars in the field; support efforts to diversify the existing pool of philanthropic resources, as well as to create new funding sources for nonprofits; and/or enhance the accountability and effectiveness of philanthropy and philanthropic institutions.
