Boston Parks & Recreation

More than 2,200 acres of park land throughout the city of Boston are overseen by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department. This park land encompasses sports facilities, parks, golf courses, play grounds, burial grounds, urban wild areas, and more! The Parks Department handles facility reservations, and is a great place to look for facilities because priority is given to Boston Public Schools and Boston youth sports organizations.
If your group or program is in need of an open space (park, playground, playing field, etc.), then check out the Open Space Map and Search to easily find the venue you need. This search database allows for searches by neighborhood, facility features, park name, or all of the above. After locating your facility of interest, submit a permit application to the Parks Department in order to have your reservation approved. Annual application deadlines are as follows: February 1st for athletics, March 1st for special events, and 15 business days prior to the event for street blocking permits.
