Sport in Society Hosting SBYD Event

Sport in Society is inviting members of the sport-based youth development community to a luncheon where participants will collaborate, share best practices, and learn about recent developments in the field. Former Wheelock College Athletic Director, and founder of Coaching Peace, Diana Cutaia will discuss relevant topics such as funding, assessment, and programming, followed by networking and lunch.

Youth Development through Rugby in Boston: Play Rugby USA!

Play Rugby USA has delivered a transformational sports education experience to urban youth for nearly 10 years. Founded in New York in 2003, this sports based youth development program has delivered their programming to over 200 schools and community based organizations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., and now they are working their way to Boston. With so few opportunities for Boston's more than 75,000 youth to play rugby, Play Rugby USA should be a nice addition to the City's field of sport.

Free Coaching Opportunity from The Institute for Sport Coaching

The Institute for Sport Coaching will provide one of the following workshops to a youth sports organization for free thanks to a generous grant from the Amelia Peabody Foundation. Normally a $600-800 value, The Sport Coach Boston: Successful Youth Coaching Workshops are approximately three and a half hour coaching education programs designed for youth sport coaches.

Trip to China Documentary by Kevin Bernardez, Madison Park High School

In December of 2011, eight student-athletes from the Boston Public Schools were selected to participate in a basketball tournament in Beijing, China.  The trip, chaperoned by our Director of Teen Initiatives, Phil Jackson, was part of President Obama's 100,000 Strong Initiative.

Boston After School & Beyond is proud to support the Boston vs. Bullies campaign, presented by The Sports Museum.  The Boston vs. Bullies website features resources like the Eyes on Bullying Toolkit, and videos from Boston's top professional athletes about how to STOP bullying today.
